Flea Market

The VBC hosts a bi-annual flea market where members can sell gently-used toys, books, clothes, equipment, furniture for babies and toddlers plus maternity clothing as well as pregnancy/childcare books. The flea markets are attended by members and non-members and usually take place in early Spring and early Autumn.

The next VBC Flea Market will take place on 17 April 2010 at the Louis Braille Haus, Hägelingasse 4-6, in the 14th district of Vienna.

The flea markets are successful every year due to the generous volunteerism of VBC members. The goodies sold in the coffee corner are home-made and donated by VBC members from all over the world. All proceeds from the coffee corner are donated to charities. VBC members also provide the extra hands that are always needed the day of the event to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Charities we have supported to date include: St Anna Kinderspital Cancer Research, Rote Nasen Clown Doctors, Diözesaner Hilfsfonds für Schwangere in Notsituationen, Caritas Socialis Mutter-Kind Wohnheim, Project Centipede, The Nina Foundation, the Silver Star Society, Center for Youth Integration in Belgrade and MAIA.

The proceeds of our coffee/cake corner from the fall Flea Market were donated to MAIA. MAIA offers free information sessions on pregnancy and childbirth, and doula/birth support services. The proceeds of the flea market went towards funding the Fall 2009 information series. Information sessions are free and open to all. The current series takes place every monday 9:30-11:30am at Aktion Leben (Dorotheergasse 6-8, 1010 Wien).

Thank you everyone for all your support and generosity!
