Here is a list of numbers to be used in emergency situations. You might even print this and keep it handy at home.
International Emergency (Internationaler Notruf) 112
The most important number to remember. It works in all Euroepan countries, the former Soviet Union, and the USA. It conects you with the local emergency services main number (eg. 999 in the UK, 911 in the USA). In Austria it will save you having to remember the seperate numbers for Police, Fire and Ambulance. If you call from a mobile they will be able to track exactly from where you are calling.

Designed for non-emergency situations. Hotline is manned by general doctors, not paediatricians. Waiting times may be long as they try to sort out as many calls as posible by phone.
Poison Hotline (Giftzentrale) 406 4343
Can be called in any case of poisoning or suspected poisoning fo advice on measures to take. If the patient is already showing symptoms call an ambulance before phoning the Poison Hotline.

This is a group of doctors and an English speaking nurse on call 24/7 for adults.
