Temporary Accommodation

We have had a number of inquiries about the possibility of temporary accommodation for women who are coming to Vienna to have their babies. The following list is the result of our research. Unfortunately, it is not exhaustive but it will provide a useful starting point.

One useful site is www.apartment.at. It's in German with apartment listings in the left hand column. If you go to the bottom of the page and click on Englische Seite every time you click on an apartment listing, then you can see descriptions in English. You can e-mail the individual owners and they are all pretty good about responding. Most apartments have daily and weekly rates, and have minimum stays of 3 days. You usually have to write (e-mail) the individual owners to get weekly and monthly rates.

We had a recommendation from a friend whose landlord does short-term rentals, but their are no elevators in the building. She speaks English fairly well and is direct so if there is nothing available she will let you know immediately. Her contact details are Edith Weiss 01 587 3456.

There are the Edelhof-Apartments Vienna where you can rent from one room to three rooms per week, or day, or however long you want to stay. The person to contact is Mag. Zwischenbrugger and the phone number is 01 479 6300 and the e-mail is edelhof@aon.at

There is the possibility to paste your request on one of the Virtual Vienna forums, www.virtualvienna.net. It is a very popular site amongst expats and there might be someone who can help.

There is also a site www.wienprivat.com where apartments are rented privately. This site is also available in English.
